Vacuum forming is a process done on flat plastic sheet to create three dimensional shapes. Common materials used for this process are PETG, acrylic, ABS, PVC and HIPS.
The process in a nut shell:
Flat plastic sheet is heated and drawn down over a pattern or tool that is the finished shape. The heated plastic is soft and conforms to the shape of the pattern by the use of vacuum ie, the sheet is sucked down over the pattern. Once cooled the new shape has been created. Other trimming and machining processes can then be incorporated to get the end result.
Vacuum forming can be a very economical way to produce display and Point of Sale Products.
Vacuum Formings are able to be made into an incredibly large range of products for various applications. Our main usage is for display products like trays, dispensers, feature graphics, POS counter top displays and many others.
